This course is designed for individuals responsible for wildlife hazard management at aerodromes, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and effectively use firearms to mitigate risks posed by wildlife. Whether working in aviation operations, aerodrome management, or wildlife control, this training ensures compliance with regulatory, ethical, and safety standards.

What This Course Covers:

• Firearm safety & handling – Identifying safe discharge locations, managing firearm hazards, and following correct loading and discharge procedures.

• Wildlife hazard control measures – Selecting appropriate control methods in line with aerodrome wildlife hazard management plans.

• Use of firearms & ammunition – Correct use of cracker shells for wildlife dispersal and live shot for hazard management.

• Regulatory compliance – Understanding and adhering to Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulations and national aviation safety protocols.

  Training is conducted in a controlled and supportive environment, using industry-standard firearms and aerodrome-specific procedures. Participants will gain hands-on experience under the guidance of highly experienced instructors.

Nationally Recognised Qualification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for AVIO0018 – Use Firearms on an Aerodrome to Control Wildlife Hazards, a nationally recognised qualification within the AVI Aviation Training Package
